Following the footsteps of the successful 6-Series Gran Coupe, BMW will soon announce a Gran Coupe version of the new 4-series which, like its bigger brother, is nothing but a coupe with two extra doors. So far, we’ve been treated to only spyshots of a few cammo-wrapped protos. But, thanks to several leaked patent drawings, we now have a clear idea as to what adding two extra doors to a 4-Series Coupe would look like.
From the patent images, it’s clear that the car will have a longer wheelbase than the coupe variant for better entry and space at the rear. The coupe profile fused with a sedan’s practicality, a formula that worked for its much costlier bigger brother, will help make it look more appealing, compared to the mainstream designs of the 3-series and 5-series.
Like its two-door twin, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will be available with variants like the 420i, 420d, 428i, 435i and, in the much distant future, an M4 Gran Coupe. It is expected to be unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
