Hours before Porsche unveils the 911 Targa at the Detroit Auto Show, somebody managed to get their hands on a set of official images and has leaked it online.
It’s been an on/off affair for the Targa variant, ever since it first came in the late ’60s. This time, Porsche decided to bring back the Targa variant (again!) but this time, things have become a bit special.
The 2015 Porsche 991 911 Targa resurrects the original design of the ’67 911 Targa. Thanks to today’s technology, operating the Targa’s roof panel takes a mere click of a button, unlike its ancestor that required you to manually eject and stow the panel somewhere.
The car will be offered with powertrains similar to the 991 Carrera 4 and 4S. This means that the Targa 4 will be powered by a 3.4-liter flat-6 engine producing 350-bhp and a 3.8-liter flat-6 that produces 400 horsepower in the Targa 4S. Both the engines will transfer torque to all four wheels via the excellent 7-speed PDK transmission.
