Shmee150 spotted a test mule of the 2015 BMW M235i in the center of Munich. Tim Burton aka Shmee snapped the brand new 1-Series Coupe while heading to the local airport.
Looking at the photos we immediately spot a series of interesting details. The wheels are similar to the M135i, M Double-spoke style 436M light alloy wheels. At the rear we spot the same exhaust set up as the 435i and the front resembles the looks of the 3- and 4-Series. So the 1-Series front is not being used by the Germans on the 2-Series.
The new BMW 2 Series will be unveiled this fall after the Frankfurt Auto Show and first models will go on sale in Spring 2014. The M235i will use the same engine as the M135i, a 3.0 liter TwinPower turbocharged six-cylinder producing a slightly higher performance as the 1-Series. The M235i will have 326 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque (332 lb-ft) at 1,300 rpm. Redline is set at 7,000 rpm.
The total weight of the new M235i is 1,455/1,470 kg. A sprint from zero to 100 km/h is done in 5.0 seconds for the manual and 4.8 seconds for the version with the automatic gearbox.
Following the steps of the BMW M135i, an xDrive version of the M235i will appear in the 2 Series line-up as well.
