Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #10. Bugatti Chiron
When everyone was speculating about what next after the last Bugatti Veyron exited the assembly line, Molsheim had quietly developed a Chiron; a super-coupe that is equally a head-turner in terms of performance and design architecture.
Although the Veyron is faster than Chiron in practice, gamers can tune it to go faster than Veyron on virtual roads thus surpassing every other car in the Forza Horizon 4 library. With the ability to sweep 261 MPH, Chiron can punch past just about anything in front of it.
It is undeniable that the Chiron is among the quickest cars on Earth based on its performance figures. Behind its incredible power is a gold mine W16 quad-turbocharged engine whose output yields 1,479 horsepower. The W16 is an 8-liter engine with a torque of 1,180 Pound-Ft.
It comes as no surprise that the Bugatti Chiron can shoot from 0-60 MPH in under 2.6 seconds. Although the manufacturer puts Chiron’s top speed at 261 mph as recorded during the test runs, this monster is said to have registered an astounding 304.77 MPH in practice. This is over and above Veyron’s acclaim for the world’s top-speed title.
Likewise, on the console, gamers can subject the Longtail Chiron to full throttle especially when it’s been skillfully custom-tuned to achieve higher speeds. There are two simulations of Chiron to be found on Forza Horizon 4; one being LEGO (which was introduced alongside LEGO Speed Champions in early 2020) and the other, the original Chiron version.
Chiron Pur’s Specifications
Maximum speed limit: 261 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 269 MPH
Horsepower: 1,479 BHP
Torque: 1,180 Lb-Ft
0:60: Takes 2.5 seconds
Engine: 16-cylinder turbo-charged quad engine (W16) with an eight-liter fuel capacity
Additional Notes: Custom-made Michelin Tires (in sizes 355/25 R21 and 285/30 R20)
Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #9. Pagani Zonda Cinque
Next rank on the hierarchy comes the Pagani Zonda Cinque; an Italian-made hypercar that was launched in the recent past. Following its entry into the automobile industry, the Italian automotive manufacturer; Pagani Automobili has made fierce inroads into the competitive arena with the likes of the new Huayra and Zonda models.
Pagani Zonda Cinque happens to be the only model that gamers can fetch from Forza Horizon’s Massive library. Given the fact that only five units ever came out of Pagani’s assembly line, this car is as rare on the streets just as it is located on the gamers’ console.
But if you were to purchase the Zonda in the virtual world, chances are that you would get as many models as you can afford. Tuners have had a way of cranking Zonda’s gears to make it cruise at 221 MPH.
There is no lack of garage space in virtual cyber-space, so owning as many Zondas in Forza Horizon 4 won’t have your garage filled up. With Forza Horizon 4, you get a virtual-based platform where you find navigating along arcade-like drive-in scenarios is completely intuitive and customizable.
In essence, Zonda, once it’s let out of its den is bound to rake havoc on the virtual open roads. Of course, nothing less would be expected from a 669-horse-powered Zonda with a 12-valve 7.3-liter engine other than superb performance. Added to a torque of 575 Lb-Ft, the Zonda evokes images of exotic high-power attributable to a present-day race car.
This means that Zonda hoards enough power to let it consume 221 miles in 60 minutes but picks up from 0-60 mph precisely in 3.4 seconds. In some cases, navigating the meandering high-walled virtual corners may be the limiting factor that inhibits Zonda from devouring the roads at sonic speeds.

Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #8. Koenigsegg Agera
The Koenigsegg Agera is one of the fastest street-legal monsters to emerge from the Swedish carmaker. Whether it is in the real world or behind your driving console, this car’s performance reminisces a beast on Swedish roads but thanks to Forza Horizon 4 the beast will always remain tamed in the virtual world.
Certain design aspects allow gamers to upgrade or tailor specific car specs to improve its aerodynamics. Only Koenigsegg Agera in Forza Horizon 4 has this feature. Once it is upgraded, Agera can attain terrific speeds to the tune of 249 mph.
The Agera comes adorned with every adorable feature associated with supercars in its class which include specs such as 811 Lb-Ft of torque, a powerful 5.0L V8 engine (twin turbocharger) plus an impressive 947 horsepower.
With all these attributes combined in one hyper-car, you cannot afford to lose concentration while competing otherwise, you crash and see it go up in smoke. If you feel your current budget level is not enough to achieve your desired performance, perhaps you can save a little more and have your Agera’s top speed boosted beyond 270 MPH.
Koenigsegg Agera’s technical specifications
Maximum speed limit: 249 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 273 MPH
Horsepower: 947 BHP

Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #7. Koenigsegg Agera RS
Forza Horizon 4 is home to yet another Swedish Koenigsegg that performs similarly to Agera in equal measure. And that is Koenigsegg Agera RS which has to be the world’s fastest record holder. Unlike its brother competitor, the Agera RS is not to be found in ordinary Forza Horizon 4 game-play because it is a DLC automobile that requires additional money for you to be able to drive.
Once you put in extra cash, you get rewarded with various quicker versions of the RS with the capabilities to devour speeds above 280 MPH. This is 10 MPH faster than any car nut compared to driving a regular Agera.
In practice, Koenigsegg Agera RS still holds the record for being the fastest production vehicle ever built (277.87 mph). More impressive, though, is how fast gamers warm up to RS even after the Bugatti Chiron (Longtail) broke its record with an unimaginable 304.77 MPH.
However, industry pundits would want RS to retain the world’s “fastest car” status whether in the virtual or in the real world. You need to be cautious though because unlike in the real world, you won’t be able to own RS through ordinary game-play in Forza Horizon 4 unless you pump in additional cash.
Again, unlike in the real world where you require $2.6 million to purchase the RS, Forza Horizon 4 has two options through which you can own the car. You can either acquire the car at $2.99 or spend between $10 and $15 for the entire DLC content.
Agera RS specifications
Maximum speed limit: 277 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 284 MPH
Horsepower: 1,341 BHP
Torque: 1,011 Lb-Ft
0:60: 2.8 seconds
Engine: 5.0 liters
Additional Notes: Dry weight 1,395 Kilograms
Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #6. Bugatti EB110 SS
You will recall that back in 2012, the car that reined the streets as well as in Forza Horizon’s virtual world was the super-sportive Bugatti EB110 SS.
The Italian-made EB110 SS was then the fastest car before being humbled by newer entrants in the likes of the Bugatti Chiron. It would appear that Playground Games likes to adhere to a traditional culture going by the way they’ve retained EB110 SS as the fastest car model in their series.
Justifiably, gamers, with the help of tune-up features can punch EB110 SS to attain 282.5 miles per hour. Since its first debut, three decades ago in 1995, EB 110 SS has lived up to Bugatti’s commitment to quality. Had it not been for its rock-solid performance and dependability, the EB 110 SS would have lost its luster to newer, more advanced models.
But 30 years have gone by yet EB 110 SS has surpassed multi-generational integrity to date. Although newer, more advanced cars dominate the present-day race tracks-both in Forza Horizon 4 and the real world, one Bugatti Supremo remains hard to tackle on the roads while the same can be attributed to Bugatti OG.
Following its debut, EB 110 SS soon became the newest buzzword in media houses across the world largely due to its deviation from traditional Bugatti design lineage. EB 110 SS has a V-12, 3.5-liter engine spinning the wheels resulting in a whopping 608 hp throughput.
With a torque of 479 Lb-Ft, combined with the above figures allows EB 110 SS to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.14 seconds en route to its top mark of 209 MPH. Although these figures look quite impressive, more surprises lurk behind the console in the virtual world where Forza Horizon 4 lives.
This is where EB 110 SS alongside a couple of other models can be custom-tailored so to improve their profiles. This is made possible through proper calibration settings which, if properly tuned will see EB 110 SS consume 283.5 miles in an hour.
EB 110 SS specs
Maximum speed limit: 209 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 282.5 MPH
Horsepower: 608 BHP
Torque: 479 Lb-Ft
0:60: 3.14 seconds
Engine: 3.5-liter

Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #5. McLaren F1
There are many ways in which fiction closely mimics reality, more so when it comes to playing virtual games in the world of Forza Horizon 4. Virtual game architects often strive to design them to be as close to reality as they possibly can-fast one as fast and vice versa just as in the case of British-made McLaren.
During McLaren’s reign, (1967-1971) top speeds of up to 240 MPH were achieved. However, Forza Horizon 4 allows you to attain higher speeds with the same vintage car. For instance, with McLaren F1 in-game play you can pull top speeds that average about 286 mph.
Because vintage cars like McLaren lack state-of-the-art design features to make them rank high among the present-day exotics, their appearance on this list is as justifiable as is Bugatti EB 110 SS. Car nuts, gearheads, and general car enthusiasts agree that McLaren is the greatest legend of all time.
It comes as no surprise, therefore, that McLaren F1 found a slot in Forza Horizon 4 because it is still as performant in the virtual world just as it was during its heydays. Its legacy has much to do with the opportunities it created that led to today’s existence of hypercars on race tracks.
With BMW’s designed V-12, 6.1-liter engine under the bonnet, McLaren’s torque of 479 Lb-Ft is enough to swivel the wheels into motion thus creating no less than 618 hp. And while everything on the chassis works properly, McLaren would sweep 240 MPH.
The carmaker was right when it invested in a rock-solid F1 whose impact is still felt after two decades since its first production. This fact holds even in the Forza Horizon 4 world right behind the gamer’s console.
1993 McLaren F1 specifications
Maximum speed limit: 240 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 285 MPH
Horsepower: 618 BHP
Torque: 479 Lb-Ft
0:60: 3.2 seconds
Engine: V-12, 6.1-liter
Additional Notes:
Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #4. Koenigsegg CC8S
Here comes yet another entry from the Swedish carmaker on this Forza Horizon 4 list; the Koenigsegg CC8S. Unlike the Agera model, CC8S is a lesser-known breed with special design features based on the base CCX version. You can expect more from this rare gem, more performance, more convenience, and more value.
CC8S is unavailable in the conventional Forza Horizon 4 Auto-show because its contents were added much later after its debut. Interested gamers can either buy the Auction House if they want to own the car or wait until Playground Games announces a seasonal reward. It is not until you lay your hands on CC8S to appreciate why it is so much sought after by gamers.
It’s not only rare, but it also demonstrates rare speeds; topping at 240 MPH. And that’s a feat it’s willing to replicate even in the virtual world of Forza Horizon 4. Besides its rarity, CC8S is among the priciest models in Forza Horizon 4.
If Agera RS and Koenigsegg Agera are the carmaker’s representative brigade in today’s hypercar world, RS stands in to represent the cradle from where it all began with the Swedish carmaker. With only six CC8S that came out of the drawing board, their stats and design attributes served as the best benchmark for Koenigsegg’s future.
A couple of stellar specs endeared CC8S to every car nut and online gamers alike. Sadly, CC8S is as rare on Earth just as it is in the virtual world of Forza Horizon 4. Although you won’t find it in the ordinary version, gamers are left to imagine the damage it could do while tearing the roads at 240 mph.
In addition to having an incredible amount of power, the CC8S could also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 240 mph.
Koenigsegg CC8S specifications
Maximum speed limit: 240 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 285 MPH
Horsepower: 655BHP
Torque: 553 Lb-Ft
0:60: 3.5 seconds
Engine: 4.7-Liters
Additional Notes:
Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #3. Mosler MT900S
A lot is going for Mosler MT900S in the same way as the modified Jaguar D- Type although the two bore no similarity in specs except for appearance.
The MT900S was once the fastest car in reality, but if you want to replicate the same feat in Forza Horizon 4 it may require that you swap every component verbatim. Arguably, MT900S being stock, isn’t as impressive as it should though it’s built on a superb lightweight platform.
And basing it on this fact, MT900S can have its extra weight chopped off, i.e. if you are swapping it with a Lambo V12 to make it a 4-wheel drive car too. This tunes it to push 298.5 MPH. In Forza Horizon 4, Mosler comes with a powerful 435 HP, V-8 derived from the Corvette Z06 under the hood which is not quite at par with its billing.
MT900S can whack from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds which compares better than many of today’s versions. However, it is possible to unlock MT900S’ potential if you tune and tweak it the right way to produce 298.5 MPH.
Mosler MT900s specifications
Maximum speed limit: 200 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 298.5 MPH
Horsepower: 435 BHP
Torque: 400 Lb-Ft
0:60: 3.5 seconds
Engine: LS6 V-8
Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #2. Jaguar D-Type
Talking about the Jaguar D-Type is like crossing over to another level where car insanity in terms of modifications as well as speeds takes center stage. The first noticeable modifications you would notice with the D-Type are meant to achieve more speed and overall performance.
Not many gamers understand the glitch associated with Jaguar-that it beats most renowned car models including the newer versions in Forza Horizon 4. A classic Jaguar that’s properly upgraded would whip 297 MPH a whisker from the 300 mph record-breaking mark.
Going by the extreme performance of cars in Forza Horizon 4, it is not enough to say the engineers at Playground Games are crazy with ambitions. Most of the cars in their library adhere to real-world specifications which add to make the game mimic the real-world experience with real-world performance capabilities.
It would not, however, be surprising to find a tailor-tuned Jaguar in Forza Horizon 4 returning over 300 mph or more. If the phenomenon is indeed a glitch in the game (some gamers believe so) then you would be glad it is an aspect worth appreciating.
Nothing is more thrilling than a swish past the renowned legends in the likes of McLaren, Lamborghini, or Ferraris on the road behind the D-type steering wheel.
Jaguar D-Type specs
Maximum speed limit: 162 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 302 MPH
Horsepower: 250 BHP
Torque: 242 Lb-Ft
0:60: 4.7 seconds
Engine:3.4 liter
Fastest Car In Forza Horizon 4 #1. Ferrari 599XX Evolution
Unfortunately for the Koenigsegg and the Chiron, the car that would take the honor of shattering the 300 mph mark is none other than the lesser-known Ferrari 599XX Evolution. If you are lucky enough to purchase the 599XX Evolution via the Auction House or get hold of it in an event, you will be driving the quickest car in Forza Horizon 4.
Of all the automobiles listed hereinabove, 599XX Evolution swipes them as effortlessly as wiping an Android LCD screen with your index finger.
Undoubtedly, with the 599XX Evolution’s top speed of 323 MPH, no other car in Forza Horizon 4 comes anywhere closer to it. However, you never know what comes of Playground Games’ future iterations. Just as it is surprising that the fastest car in Forza Horizon 4 is neither Bugatti nor Koenigsegg, the 599XX Evolution is equally so elusive to acquire.
What’s possible with the 599XX Evolution in Forza Horizon 4 is like the fantasy in a real-world situation according to its specs. Practically, the 599XX Evolution produces 730 horsepower output from a V-12, 6.0-liter engine. Torsion capability is 516 pound-feet while its speed apexes at 240 MPH.
Indeed, it is a privilege to own a car that rakes 323 mph whether in the real world or Forza Horizon 4.
Ferrari 599XX Evolution specs
Maximum speed limit: 240 MPH
Maximum speed limit with a tune: 323 MPH
Horsepower: 730 BHP
Torque: 516 Lb-Ft
0:60: 2.9 seconds
Engine: 6.0-liter V12
Forza Horizon 4 Tips & Tricks
To truly master Forza Horizon 4, immerse yourself in its world. Dive deep into tuning, experiment with different cars, and always be on the lookout for ways to improve. The thrill of racing, combined with the satisfaction of mastering your vehicle, makes every moment in the game an adventure.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, there’s always something new to learn. So get behind the wheel, hit the road, and enjoy the ride!
1. Tuning Cars Like a Pro
Tuning your car can significantly improve its performance. Start by understanding your goal. Are you looking to boost top speed, improve handling, or both? Adjust tire pressure for better grip; lower values work best for off-road while higher values suit asphalt. Likewise, aligning the front tires a bit more than the rear can increase cornering stability.
2. The Power of Upgrades
In Forza Horizon 4, upgrades aren’t just cosmetic. They directly impact how your car behaves. Aero upgrades, for instance, can balance speed and cornering ability. Lightweight materials decrease car weight, allowing faster acceleration. Meanwhile, engine upgrades can boost top speed and acceleration, making races easier to win.
3. Hunting for Barn Finds
One of the game’s unique features is the “Barn Find” cars. These hidden gems can be discovered around the map, offering unique and sometimes rare vehicles. To find them, listen for rumors from in-game characters. Then, comb the hinted area until you stumble upon a barn. The excitement of discovering a new ride makes this search worthwhile.
4. Driving to the Conditions
Every car behaves differently. A sports car might excel on the highway but struggle off-road. Conversely, an SUV might be slower but shines in rugged conditions. Remember to choose your vehicle based on the race type. For wet or snowy conditions, think about traction. A car with four-wheel drive might be your best bet.
5. Benefits of Car Mastery
Each car has its own set of Mastery Perks. These can provide incredible advantages. For instance, some might offer increased XP or even bonus wheel spins. Always remember to invest your points. It might be the difference between first and second place in a tight race.
6. Exploring Different Drive Types
Cars come in various drive types: front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel. Each has its strengths. Front-wheel drive cars tend to understeer, which can be easier for beginners. Rear-wheel drives might oversteer but can be more agile in corners. All-wheel drives offer balanced handling and excellent traction. Experiment with each to find what suits you.
7. Using Manual Transmission
While automatic transmission is convenient, manual gives you more control. By deciding when to shift, you can maximize your car’s performance. It might seem daunting at first, but with practice, it becomes second nature. Try it out, especially during drag races where timing is everything.
8. Importance of Tire Types
Different tires cater to different terrains. Racing tires are great for roads but may struggle off-road. Conversely, off-road tires offer grip in the dirt but might be less responsive on asphalt. Always check your tires before a race. Matching them to the terrain can be a game-changer.
9. Taking Advantage of Drafting
Drafting, or slipstreaming, involves following another car closely. This technique reduces air resistance, allowing you to go faster with less effort. When you’re right behind an opponent, you’ll feel a pull. Use this momentum to slingshot past them. It’s a simple yet effective racing strategy.
10. Joining a Car Club
Joining a club in Forza Horizon 4 provides multiple benefits. Not only do you get to race with friends, but club membership also offers exclusive rewards. Plus, by pooling race wins and points, clubs can climb leaderboards together, making it a fun and collaborative experience.
Forza Horizon 4 Tuning Guide
Here’s an in-depth overview of all you need to know about tuning cars in Forza Horizon 4…
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #1: Tires
Tires serve as the primary link between your vehicle and the terrain. Proper tuning of tires is essential to get the most out of any vehicle, whether you’re racing or just cruising around.
Think of contact patches as the footprints of your car. These are the areas where the rubber meets the road. Your car’s performance, from speeding up to slowing down and even turning, relies on these small patches. The key is to maximize their efficiency.
Choosing the Perfect Tire Compounds
Different tracks demand different tire compounds. Here’s a rule of thumb:
- Technical Tracks: Go for semi-slick or race compounds. They offer better grip, essential for tight corners and rapid maneuvers.
- High-Speed Tracks: Here, you can opt for street or sports compounds. They remain cooler due to fewer demanding curves and more straightaways. Use the extra performance index (PI) points for enhancing power or reducing weight.
In Forza Horizon 4, most street-used tire compounds work effectively between 170 and 250 °F.
A Quick Guide on Tire Pressure Tuning in Forza
Setting the right tire pressure enhances grip and responsiveness. Here’s how to perfect it:
- Start with a “cold” tire pressure between 27-30 PSI.
- Drive for a couple of minutes to warm up the tires.
- Activate telemetry and head to the ‘Tires, Misc.’ view.
- Confirm that the heated tire pressure ranges between 32-34 PSI.
- Adjust the front tire pressure if it’s not within the desired range.
- Do the same for the rear tires.
- Revisit the tire pressure after adjusting other suspension components.
Remember, higher pressures tend to make vehicles more agile, while lower pressures make for a more lenient driving experience. Most RWD and AWD cars will have almost identical front and rear tire pressures.
Tire temperatures in this game can fluctuate more due to varying factors, such as straight roads, weather changes, or water puddles. This can lead to inconsistent car handling. So, pick a consistent circuit or set a standard route for reliable readings.
Conclusion on Tire Tuning
Monitoring tire temperatures can guide you in selecting the ideal tire compound suited for your car and driving style. Always aim for tire pressures between 32 and 34 PSI during drives. The ForzaTune app can be a helpful tool, offering tire pressure recommendations and even specialized tuning options for different modes like drag, drift, and rally.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #2: Camber
Camber denotes the tilt of your car’s tires from a frontal view. When the tire tops tilt inwards, it’s called negative camber. Conversely, when the tire bottoms tilt inwards, it’s positive camber.
In Forza Horizon 4, camber tuning significantly impacts handling. Here’s why:
- During turns, your car’s weight rolls to the tire’s outer edge. Negative camber combats this, allowing for more grip by optimizing the contact patch.
- Maxing out on camber isn’t advisable. Too much can overload the tire’s inner edge, dampening acceleration, and elongating brake distances.
Guide to Camber Tuning
To achieve the perfect camber, the telemetry screen is invaluable. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Start with Defaults: Kick off with the default camber, typically between -1.0 to -1.5 degrees.
- Warm-Up: Drive around, ensuring your tires get sufficiently warm. Engage in some turns.
- Inspect Temperature Variance: On the “Heat” view, monitor temperature disparities on the tire sections – inner, middle, and outer. They should be relatively similar post-turn.
- Tweaking the Camber:
- If the outer edge gets excessively hot, add more negative camber.
- Conversely, if the inner edge is overheating, reduce camber by moving towards zero.
- Advanced Adjustments: If your car demands over -2.0 degrees of camber at the front, it’s time to rethink caster angle. But that’s a discussion for another section.
- After-Tweaks: Once you’ve made other suspension changes, remember to revisit and potentially readjust the camber.
Tuning Tip
Always measure temperature immediately after a turn, rather than during. This prevents overly negative camber settings.
On straight paths, it’s normal for tire insides to be a tad warmer. Though tools like ForzaTune Pro provide camber values, always trust the tire temperature as your ultimate guide.
Camber Tuning Wrap-Up
In essence, while tire pressure focuses on optimizing the contact patch, camber ensures this patch is evenly weighted during turns. Your goal is to find that sweet camber spot enhancing cornering prowess without compromising straight-path performance. And while tools like ForzaTune can streamline the process, nothing beats the hands-on experience of manual adjustments.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #3: Toe
While Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport offer an array of alignment settings, there are a couple that might not need your constant tinkering: toe and caster. Here’s why. Toe, in vehicular parlance, indicates the tire’s angle when viewed from an aerial perspective. Simplified:
- Toe In: Tires pointing inwards.
- Toe Out: Tires pointing outwards. Adjustments made to toe angles are typically minuscule, often restricted to tenths of a degree.
Toe’s Influence on Front Tires
During turns, the inner tire follows a smaller radius. Having a toe-out setup enables the inner tire to rotate more than the outer one, offering a sharper turn-in. However, as weight shifts to the other tire, this effect diminishes.
Toe majorly influences either the beginning or the culmination of a turn. On the flip side, toe in on front tires makes initiating turns a bit sluggish. While this isn’t particularly beneficial for front tires, it can be advantageous for rear ones.
Toe’s Role on Rear Tires
Incorporating a slight toe-in (around 0.1 to 0.2 degrees) for the rear can deter the inner tire from turning too much, effectively curtailing oversteer or the car’s tendency to spin out when entering or leaving a turn. This might be beneficial for potent RWD cars.
Why You Might Want to Sidestep Toe Adjustments
Toe prompts tires to pull in diverse directions under various circumstances, causing what’s termed “tire scrub.” This can accelerate tire wear and curtail top speeds. Hence, by appropriately calibrating springs, dampers, anti-roll bars, and differentials, it’s possible to maintain toe at 0 degrees for both the front and rear.
Tuning Tip: In Forza Horizon 5, toe adjustments can yield erratic outcomes. It’s wise to adhere to the above guidelines for Forza Motorsport and keep toe settings neutralized in Forza Horizon.
Tuning Toe in Your Vehicle
Here’s a quick guide:
- Start with both front and rear toe set to 0 degrees.
- Proceed with tuning the vehicle as described in the guide or by leveraging ForzaTune.
- For FWD cars: If, after tweaking all other parameters, there’s still hesitancy during turn-in, consider adding 0.1 degrees of toe-out upfront.
- For RWD cars: To mitigate oversteer or abrupt responses during throttle adjustments in a turn, contemplate introducing 0.1 degrees of toe-in at the back.
Concluding Thoughts on Toe
While toe adjustments can fine-tune the initial and concluding phases of a turn, in most Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon scenarios, it’s likely you’ll keep it at a neutral 0. The ForzaTune app echoes this sentiment, sparingly recommending deviations from this norm. However, diving into those exceptions would be a topic for another day.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #4: Caster
The caster alludes to the angle between the ‘true’ vertical axis and the suspension strut assembly. In Forza, you’ll notice this specification exclusively on the front tires.
In games like Forza, the caster is consistently positive. What this implies is that a positive caster urges the wheels to revert to a central position when the steering wheel is unguided. With a heightened angle, you’ll find the vehicle exhibits augmented stability during straight paths.
Why Not Opt for Maximum Caster
While caster offers stabilization, it isn’t devoid of repercussions. Primarily, it amplifies steering exertion and prompts an enhanced dynamic camber when cornering. In gaming simulators, the steering effort isn’t profoundly discernible. However, excessive camber could pose challenges, as detailed in the preceding camber segment.
Recommended setup: Maintain the caster angle within the range of 5.0 to 6.0 degrees. If your vehicle seems to wander or demands frequent alignment during elongated straights, it might be wise to amplify the angle marginally.
Tuning Tip: An intriguing aspect of Forza Horizon 5 is its revamped tire model, which appears to be remarkably reactive to caster adjustments compared to its predecessors. Setting values exceeding 6.0 degrees may render the vehicle excessively reactive during initial turns.
Steps to Evaluate and Adjust Caster
- Initialize by setting the caster to 5.5 degrees. If the default is more substantial, then adhere to that. If you’re utilizing the ForzaTune tuning calculator, it will suggest an apt commencement point.
- Progress with the tuning process either as described in this guide or by deploying the ForzaTune application.
- If the vehicle exhibits erratic behavior during straights, enhance the angle minutely and re-assess.
- In scenarios where the vehicle tends to jerk during initial turns, diminish the angle to counteract an abundance of front camber.
Concluding Thoughts on Caster
In essence, caster is a relatively undemanding parameter to calibrate. In the majority of scenarios, an angle nestled between 5.0 and 6.0 degrees should suffice. Now, with the tire contact patches primed, it’s pertinent to delve into the myriad techniques to modulate weight transfer. Continue reading to grasp the intricacies of springs, anti-roll bars, and dampers.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #5: Springs
Fine-tuning springs and adjusting the ride height are integral to achieving a well-balanced ride in games like Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport. The optimal suspension setup aims to ensure maximum tire contact with the track. Here, we’ll delve into the workings of springs and offer some guidelines for optimal setup.
Deciphering Spring Rates
Springs play a pivotal role in cushioning your car against uneven surfaces. The “spring rate” of a spring reveals its compressibility.
Spring rates are quantified in units of force over a given distance. In Forza, one might come across units such as Newtons per meter (N/m), kilograms of force per millimeter (kgf/mm), or pounds of force per inch (lb/in).
Is a Softer Spring Always Superior?
A softer spring rate implies the spring compresses with lesser force. So, during scenarios like bumps or sharp curbs, softer springs ensure the tires maintain contact with the track rather than lifting the car off.
However, extremely soft springs have a higher risk of bottoming out, i.e., getting fully compressed. In the telemetry for FH5, the dark pink bar indicates the suspension’s compression level after encountering a bump. Here, the suspension is almost fully compressed, signaling a probable bottom-out.
Bottoming out can lead to the vehicle’s body directly connecting to the wheels, causing drastic spring rate alterations, which isn’t conducive to maintaining control.
Why Not Opt for Stiffer Springs?
Contrarily, a stiffer spring rate requires a higher force for compression. While stiffer springs counteract the bottoming-out issue, they can lead to a bumpy ride, causing the tires to lose road contact momentarily, compromising control.
The goal is to strike a balance—soft enough springs to prevent skipping but firm enough to avoid bottoming out, all while considering other variables like ride height and track conditions.
Guidelines for Adjusting Springs
- Heavier vehicles necessitate firmer springs for optimal support.
- Spring adjustments should reflect the car’s weight distribution.
- Lower ride height boosts handling but reduces the spring’s compression space, increasing the risk of bottoming out.
Discerning Oversteer and Understeer
Oversteer: Occurs when the rear tires lose grip before the front ones, causing the rear end to swing out.
Understeer: Arises when the front tires lose grip first, causing the vehicle to deviate from its path.
One can relate oversteer and understeer to rotation. Does the car rotate more or less than anticipated? The balance of oversteer and understeer is majorly influenced by the relative stiffness of the front and rear springs.
Spring Rate Tuning without Delving into Calculations
Tuning springs complement the adjustments made to anti-roll bars and dampers. Using tuning tools like ForzaTune Pro can streamline the process. However, the following checklist can guide your initial efforts:
- Ensure the vehicle is equipped with an adjustable suspension. In Horizon, avoid mistakenly opting for a rally suspension on vehicles like the 911 GT3.
- Set the ride height based on track conditions.
- Determine how your upgrades have impacted the vehicle’s weight distribution.
- Adjust spring rates accordingly based on weight distribution changes.
- Fine-tune the rest of the car per the guidelines provided.
- Monitor the suspension telemetry graphs during drives to ensure they don’t max out.
- Make necessary adjustments per the tuning checklist.
In Conclusion
Spring tuning forms the crux of the Forza Horizon and Motorsport experience. Though the game auto-adjusts them based on weight fluctuations, it doesn’t rebalance them considering weight shifts from front to back, nor does it gauge ride height. Thankfully, with this newfound knowledge and tools like ForzaTune, you can rapidly discern optimal settings.
An Additional Note on Springs
At times, using springs to counterbalance oversteer or understeer isn’t the best approach. It can soften the ride excessively, leading to pronounced diving or squatting. Diving happens when the front springs are overly soft, causing the car to lean forward during braking.
Squatting arises when the rear springs are too lenient, leading to a rearward weight shift during acceleration. To bypass this, consider adjusting the anti-roll bars.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #6: Anti-Roll Bars
Anti-roll bars, or ARBs, might seem like a complex component, but tuning them can greatly impact a car’s mid-corner handling. Forza Horizon and Motorsport simplify the process considerably. This guide provides insights into the ARB mechanism and offers straightforward guidelines for setting up your car’s base tune.
The Functionality of Anti-Roll Bars
During a cornering maneuver, a car’s body tends to roll, primarily due to the flex in its springs. This induces a weight transfer, causing the springs on the outer wheel to compress while the inner wheel’s springs stretch out.
ARBs, sometimes called anti-sway bars, serve to link the inner and outer wheels. Their role is to make the inner wheel follow the outer wheel’s motion, which, in effect, makes the car maintain a more even stance while cornering.
Decoding the Workings of ARBs
Imagine ARBs as augmenting spring stiffness, albeit only during turns. While they don’t function like conventional coil springs that compress, they act as torsional springs, offering a level of “twist”.
A more rigid ARB compels the inner and outer wheels to mirror each other’s movement more closely, leading to diminished body roll. Conversely, a more flexible ARB lets the left and right springs operate more independently, permitting a higher degree of body roll.
ARBs predominantly influence mid-corner behavior and remain passive during straight-line motion.
Tuning Anti-Roll Bars in Forza Horizon or Motorsport
Precise ARB value calculations can be intricate. Tools like ForzaTune or ForzaTune Pro significantly expedite this process. If you’re more hands-on, here’s a method to approximate the ideal values:
- Ensure that the car is upgraded to feature adjustable front and rear race anti-roll bars.
- Document the weight reduction from the original configuration (e.g., a decrease of 200 lbs or 90 kg) and the alteration in front weight distribution (like a shift from 54% to 52%).
- For every weight reduction of 100 lb or 45 kg, decrease ARBs by 1.0.
- For every percentage point drop in front weight distribution, subtract 0.5 from the front ARB and add 0.5 to the rear ARB.
- Proceed to fine-tune dampers.
- Utilize the tuning checklist for optimizing oversteer or understeer values.
ARB Tuning Recommendations
ARBs leave a discernible impact on Forza’s tuning process. For addressing oversteer and understeer, begin with the ARBs:
- To curtail understeer, lessen the front ARB’s rigidity.
- To alleviate oversteer, reduce the stiffness of the rear ARB.
- Always target the problematic area instead of overcompensating elsewhere.
Follow the principle of “tackle the issue head-on”. For instance, to handle oversteer—a rear car issue—don’t opt to enhance the front ARB’s rigidity.
Concluding Thoughts
ARBs essentially function as side-to-side weight shift moderators, comparable to specialized springs. While ForzaTune Pro offers a swift solution to derive ideal values, the guidelines above empower you to achieve those manually.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #7: Dampers
The ability to tune dampers using rebound and bump adjustments in Forza Horizon and Motorsport provides a simplified yet immersive experience. Grasp the importance of these terms and understand how damper tuning influences car handling through this guide.
Demystifying Dampers
While springs and ARBs dictate the extent of suspension movement, dampers control its speed. Optimally tuned dampers in Forza elevate the driving experience by enhancing predictability during braking, cornering, and throttling.
In reality, dampers comprise a fluid-filled tube and a plunger that moves through this fluid, causing resistance. The denser the fluid (akin to honey), the stiffer the damper, leading to slower movement. In contrast, a less dense fluid (similar to water) offers softer damping.
When integrated with springs, dampers efficiently manage the car’s movement over uneven surfaces. A car with minimal or no damping can end up bouncing chaotically. Experiment by setting all damping values to 1.0 in Forza and observe the erratic behavior post-bump – especially pronounced with increased spring rates.
Bump vs. Rebound: Distinguishing the Duo
The Forza tuning interface allows for adjusting damper stiffness in two directions:
- Bump damping: Governs the speed of wheel movement into the wheel well during suspension compression.
- Rebound damping: Dictates the pace at which the wheel returns to the road during suspension extension.
Envisioning the suspension’s compression on hitting a bump can aid in differentiating between the two.
Damper Tuning Essentials
The correlation between damping stiffness and car handling is nuanced. Here are some pivotal points:
- Damping adjustments should complement changes to springs; stiffer springs necessitate stiffer dampers.
- Greater damping is effective on smooth tracks but not on uneven terrains.
- Overly soft dampers can render a car unstable, inducing oscillations while navigating tracks.
- In Forza, damper adjustments are manual and don’t auto-adapt to weight variations.
- Bump settings are typically around two-thirds of the rebound settings.
- To counter understeer, ease the front damping; to address oversteer or throttle-lift issues, soften the rear damping.
Damper Tuning in Forza: A Manual Approach
To realize optimal results, dampers should align with springs and ARBs. While ForzaTune Pro automates this process, those preferring a manual touch can use the following strategy:
- Document the weight variations post-upgrades and changes in weight distribution.
- For every weight reduction of 100 lbs (45 kg), deduct 0.3 from the default rebound and 0.2 from the default bump values. Conversely, add equivalent damping for weight increments.
- If there’s a reduction in front weight, decrease the front rebound and bump values by 0.2 each, and enhance the rear values similarly. Reverse the adjustments if the front weight increases.
- Finalize the brake, aero, and differential tunings.
- Utilize the tuning checklist for nuanced damper fine-tuning and modify oversteer or understeer as required.
This method simplifies the math, making manual tuning more accessible. As an illustrative example, consider a car initially weighing 3000 lbs with a 52% front weight, later modified to 2800 lbs and 51% front weight:
- Recognize the 200 lbs weight drop and the 1% rearward balance shift.
- Deduct 0.6 from both default rebound values and 0.4 from both default bump values.
- Adjust the front and rear values by 0.2 each to account for the balance alteration.
To further refine damper tuning, leveraging a tuning calculator like ForzaTune Pro is invaluable.
Wrapping It Up
Dampers are quintessential for superior vehicular control, especially when the weight is in flux. They swiftly stabilize the suspension, but excessive damping can hinder the car’s response to bumps, potentially causing unintended skidding.
With a grasp over springs, ARBs, and dampers, you’re equipped to master weight transfer. Up next, delve into optimizing grip via aero, brakes, and differentials.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #8: Aerodynamics
In Forza, the allure of aerodynamic upgrades goes beyond aesthetics; it’s a gateway to augmenting grip. Let’s navigate the science of aero and its significance in your driving experience.
The Aero Principle
As speed surges, the car harnesses the air it displaces to exert downward pressure on itself. Think of it as an invisible weight that pushes the tires against the track. The outcome? Enhanced grip.
Two crucial elements dictate this downforce: the wing’s inclination and the car’s velocity. By manipulating the aero sliders in Forza, you’re essentially altering the wing’s angle. But remember, meaningful downforce necessitates speed. Therefore, notable handling upgrades via aero manifest chiefly at high velocities.
However, aero isn’t without its trade-offs. Intensified downforce translates to increased drag, potentially curbing your top speed. Moreover, aero upgrades in Forza might not always be in harmony with a car’s innate design, although that’s subjective.
Decoding Aero’s Relevance
So, when does aero come into its own?
Track characteristics largely inform aero choices. On sinuous, shorter circuits, even if aero could amplify grip, the car might not achieve the speeds needed to capitalize on it. On the flip side, for tracks dotted with lengthy straights, minimized downforce is the key to unlocking top speeds.
Aero truly shines on tracks with expansive, high-speed bends, especially if these lead into straights. Deploying aero in these scenarios optimizes exit speeds, bestowing a pronounced advantage over less aero-equipped rivals.
Aero Tuning in Forza: A Guided Approach
ForzaTune underscores that aero shouldn’t be an initial input in the tuning process but an enhancement tool. Here’s a streamlined method to fine-tune aero:
- Ponder over the need for adjustable aero upgrades, considering driving styles and aesthetic inclinations.
- If opting for upgrades, ensure both front and rear aero modifications to maintain speed balance. Begin with aligning the positions of the front and rear sliders; relative positions take precedence over numeric values.
- Set both sliders between halfway and three-quarters of the maximum, keeping a keen eye on top-speed trade-offs. Simulation outcomes will be instrumental here.
- Conclude with tuning other parameters, encompassing braking and differentials.
- Leverage the tuning checklist for ultimate refinements.
Aero Fine-Tuning Insights
Retaining the core concepts discussed in preceding tuning sections, address the car’s end that exhibits discrepancies:
- If the car’s rear tends to drift post high-speed corners, bolster rear downforce, leaving the front unchanged.
- Conversely, if the car struggles to maintain its track during high-speed bends, escalate the front aero.
Aero Summed Up
Aero offers a specialized avenue to modulate the car’s behavior, primarily during high-speed endeavors. It’s an ally for tracks with extended turns, akin to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps or expansive stretches in Forza Horizon. However, for those craving sheer speed or embarking on highway quests, aero might need to be dialed down or minimized for optimal results.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #9: Brake Dynamics
In Forza’s realistic racing world, the race brake upgrade offers not just a halt but a refined deceleration experience. Let’s delve into how to effectively tune your car’s brakes for optimized performance.
Understanding Brake Balance
Brake balance is the proportion of braking force between the front and rear wheels. The in-game brake balance slider runs from 0% to 100%, where 50% is the median. At 100%, you’re exclusively using the front brakes, while 0% signifies total rear braking.
Note: In the Forza Horizon series, a persistent bug has flipped the brake balance. Therefore, for front-oriented brake balance, move the slider rightward.
Brake balance tuning hinges on your braking techniques, like trail braking. More often, the front wheels shoulder the bulk of the braking power.
Brake Balance: Tailored for Techniques
- Trail-Braking: If you’re into trail braking – tapering brake force while entering a corner – and experience turn-in understeer, shift the brake balance rearward. Conversely, if the rear end skids during turn-in, adjust the brake balance forward.
- Straight-Line Braking: Should your front wheels lock before a turn causing a missed turn-in point, it’s time to shift brake balance slightly to the rear. If the rear wheels are the culprits, the balance needs a forward push. Ideally, in cases of a lockup, both front and rear brakes should synchronize.
A Peek into Brake Pressure
Brake pressure adjustments are primarily influenced by your comfort and experience.
- If you’re inclined to utilize the full trigger range and experience frequent brake lockups, it’s advisable to lower the pressure.
- For those who exert half-trigger pressure and find the braking subpar, a pressure boost might be the solution.
- For precise braking control, aim for a setting where tire lockup occurs in the last 10-15% of the trigger or pedal exertion.
The Brake Tuning Blueprint in Forza
- Commence by integrating the race brake upgrade.
- Align the brake balance to 52-53% in Motorsport (or 48-47% in Horizon).
- Set the brake pressure to the maximum, i.e., 100%.
- Proceed with fine-tuning other elements, including differentials.
- If rear tires show a higher propensity to lock up, modulate the brake balance by 1% towards the front (left in Motorsport, right in Horizon). The opposite applies if front tires are more prone to lockups.
- If both sets of tires lock up frequently, it might be time to revisit your braking approach, gradually easing onto the brakes or trimming brake pressure by 5-10%.
- Iteratively refine using steps 5 and 6 until desired results are attained.
The Brake Tuning Summary
The art of brake balance is instrumental in steering and stability, especially for aficionados of trail braking. By dedicating a short span to fine-tuning the brakes, you can significantly boost your on-track consistency and pace, ensuring a seamless driving experience in Forza.
Forza Horizon 4, Tuning Guide #10: Differential Dynamics
A deep dive into Forza’s tuning landscape will lead you to differentials, a topic that bewilders many. Here, we simplify differential tuning, emphasizing the race differential upgrade, and exploring how it tweaks acceleration and deceleration behaviors. Although Forza Horizon 5 is laden with more adjustable differential options, our insights apply consistently.
A Glimpse into Differentials
At the core, adjustable differentials enhance grip during acceleration, deceleration, and turning.
Visualize an axle during a turn. The outer wheel travels a greater distance than the inner wheel within the same duration. Consequently, the outer wheel must move swifter. If both wheels revolved uniformly, the outer wheel would skid. Enter the differential: a gear mechanism allowing disparate wheel speeds.
The Differential Dichotomy: Open vs. Locked
An open differential (0% in Forza’s tuning) lets wheels rotate freely. Conversely, a locked differential (100% in tuning) compels synchronous wheel rotation.
While open differentials are exceptional for maintaining traction at constant speeds, accelerating out of turns can cause the inner wheel to spin.
The Shortcomings of Open Differentials
The innate flaw with fully open differentials is their tendency to channel power to the wheel with the least resistance. This can be problematic, especially during turns where the weight shifts outward, causing the inner wheel to lose grip. As a result, the inner wheel spins, depriving the outer wheel of power, akin to power “leaking.”
The limited slip differential (LSD) addresses this by allowing wheels to turn independently up to a certain threshold, thereby preserving acceleration during turns.
Navigating Drivetrains
The number of differentials depends on the drive setup: one for front-wheel drives, one for rear-wheel drives, and three (front, rear, center) for all-wheel drives. The center differential governs the torque distribution between the front and rear.
Decoding Differential Tuning in Forza
Keep these pointers at heart:
- Higher differential values = more wheel synchronization.
- Lower values = greater independent rotation.
Pro tip: Struggling with slider orientation? Recall that 0% visually resembles “O” – standing for open.
Forza’s adjustability lets you tinker with both acceleration and deceleration figures, with defaults often serving as sturdy starting points.
Differential Tuning Protocols:
- Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD)
- Initiate with a race or modifiable differential.
- Target acceleration: 50-60% (Motorsport) and 25-45% (Horizon).
- Deceleration: 20-40% (Motorsport) and 30-45% (Horizon).
- Minimize turn exit oversteer: Trim acceleration by 2-3%.
- Mitigate turn entry oversteer: Boost deceleration by 2-3%.
- Front-Wheel Drive (FWD)
- Begin with an adjustable differential.
- Acceleration focus: 20-30% (Motorsport) and 15-25% (Horizon).
- Deceleration: 0-10% (Motorsport) and 10-20% (Horizon).
- Amplify turn exit understeer: Elevate acceleration by 2-3%.
- Intensify turn entry understeer: Heighten deceleration by 1%.
- All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Kick off with an adaptable differential.
- Utilize the aforementioned FWD and RWD figures as reference.
- Target a center split of 60-70%.
- Tweak turn entry dynamics using front-rear deceleration settings.
- Adjust turn exit dynamics via front-rear acceleration values.
- For optimal mid-corner dynamics, elevate the center split for enhanced oversteer.
Differential Mastery in Summary
Differentials are pivotal in ensuring ideal wheel performance, especially during challenging maneuvers. Delving into Forza’s tuning settings and understanding differentials can drastically improve your gameplay, ensuring a smooth, power-packed drive.

Robots consider I am winning too easily as “Highly Skilled” driver!
My achievement getting all stars on the motorway speed trap confirms the Ferrari 599X to be the fastest in my X999 rated vehicles.
Unable to reach a 268.9 mph achievement target in Bugatti Veyron. Have purchased several Veyron using different tunes form experienced tuners. Persistent in facing traffic problems in achieving goals in both the Ferrari and Bugatti.
Have been passed during these test runs by some drivers at astounding speeds – are these illegal vehicles on FH4?
In trying to achieve a speed goal on a mountain road with bends (Hillside?) I have tried many of my vehicles of different types with top normal tunings and am just five mph short of reaching goal. There seem to be demos of supertuned vehicles substantially over the standard ones. I could achieve the goals easily with the supertuned cars.
Guidance and advice would be appreciated!
You need the 599xx Evolution. Not the normal 599xx.
Thanks for the comment, Vic Sullivan!
As Bob Time helpfully pointed out, you need the Ferrari 599XX Evolution, not just the normal 599XX. In addition to the base car itself (which is pretty fast on its own), you’ll need to install some new top-speed tunes, which should comfortably take it past 323+mph, or 500+km/h.
Thanks
